IndoPak Series likely in December

pakistan-vs-india-460x250

Pakistan’s government has paved the way for the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) permission to play a series against India in Sri Lanka.

Unconfirmed reports from India suggest that the Indian government has done likewise for the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). If so, in effect, that means that a much-anticipated but shortened bilateral series between the two countries may finally go ahead in December.

“The Prime Minister [Nawaz Sharif] has given permission for Pakistan to play cricket matches with India in Sri Lanka,” the PM’s spokesman and the federal information minister Pervez Rashid told The National.

Officials from the PCB say they have not yet received official communication from the government. One official said that Shaharyar Khan, the PCB chairman, had “apprised” the prime minister — who is also the patron of the cricket board — of the meeting he had with his Indian counterpart Shashank Manohar.

News are coming too, that series will take place in mid of December 2015 with Only T20 Internationals & One Day Internationals. There is no interest in adding Test series to this series by both Boards.

Imad Wasim will miss T20 Series

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan all-rounder Imad Wasim has been ruled out of the three-match T20 series against England due to a broken little finger on his left hand.

Wasim was injured in a domestic cricket match last month, and needs another two weeks to recover, Pakistan Cricket Board doctor Sohail Saleem said.

The T20s start in the United Arab Emirates next Thursday. Another all-rounder, Bilal Asif, will replace Wasim in the squad.

Lahore Lions Summarized by Hamadullah Sohu

Lahore Lions is a Pakistani cricket team representing the city Lahore and is one of the 19 domestic teams. The team was established by Lahore Regional Cricket Association in 2004/05 in its home ground Lahore City Cricket Association Ground. Domestically, the team plays in the Haier T20 Cup. The team won its first title in 2010 where they defeated Karachi Dolphins by 37 runs in their home ground Gaddafi Stadium.

1 Only once they played in CLT20 and went to group stage won their matches against Express Southern of Sri Lanka and giants of Indian Premier League Mumbai Indians. Imran Tahir current South African premier spin bowler led this side in 2006, tournament and won that single match as a captain of Lahore Lions.

2 Times remained runner-up in Pakistan’s national t20 cup 2009 and 2014-15 tournaments, under the captaincy of Abdur Razzak and Azhar Ali respectively.

3 Azhar Ali and Salman Butt both won 3 matches for Lahore Lions as captains. They also won 3 games out of 6 played in their first CLT20 tournament. Also they won 3 times National T20 Tournaments in 2010-11, 2012-13 and 2013-14 respectively.

5.65 is the economy rate of Professor Muhammad Hafeez , who bowled minimum 20 overs in his career with Lahore Lions, but Hafeez bowled 90 overs and maintaining this type of economy rate is something which any other spinner bowler dreamt of it.

6 duck inning played by Ahmed Shahzad in overall his career with Lahore Lions which is most by any Lions player.

8 total numbers of captains who led the side, till today includes, Muhammad Yousuf, Imran Farhat, Abdur Razzak, Imran Tahir, Kamran Akmal, Salman Butt, Muhammad Hafeez, and Azhar Ali.

24 is the number of matches in which Professor Muhammad Hafeez led the side till last year’s CLT20 in India.

29 is the number of catches taken by Ahmed Shahzad in 49 matches at total he played for Lions.

36 is the number of extras they concede in a single T20 match against Karachi Dolphins in 2005 tournament.

60. Most T20 matches played by Nasir Jamshed for Lahore Lions from 2005 till today with highest score of 71 not out

72 is the number of wickets taken by Aizaz Cheema in only 42 matches played for lions with the best figure of 4/17 in 4 overs.

98 is the lowest score of Lions against Northern Knights in last year’s CLT20 edition.

109 is the highest individual score by Lahore Lions belongs to Abdur Razzak , he mad this in 2009 against Quetta bears in only 51 balls with the help of 8 sixes and 8 fours.

151 is the strike rate of Abdur Razzak at minimum 500 runs from Lahore Lions which is most by any batsman, next is Umar Akmal whose strike rate is nearing 140.

162 runs made by Nasir Jamshed and Kamran Akmal which is the highest partnership by runs against Quetta on 26 May 2009.

234 is the highest score in an inning by Lions they made this score with the loss of only four wickets against Islamabad Leopard at Karachi in 2006.

391 is an individual score by any Lions Player in a single edition of National T20 competition. He did this 2012/13 Faisal Bank Cup.

1460 this number belongs to Ahmed Shahzad he holds the highest position in runs list. He made these runs in only 49 T20 matches.

The most important thing, which I should mention here, that from this year Pakistan Cricket Board decided to change their name from Lahore Lions to Lahore Whites, This name is their brand but PCB decided to change names of all teams who are currently participating in Haier T20 Cup 2015-16 at Rawalpindi. Now their careers will be for Lahore Lions would never add up, but for a new team called Lahore Whites.

Kaneria Found guilty, banned life time by ECB

Former Pakistan and Essex leg-spinner Danish Kaneria was banned for life by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) on Friday after being found guilty of corruption.

“We regard Danish Kaneria as a grave danger to the game of cricket and we must take every appropriate step to protect our game from his corrupt activities,” the board said in a statement.

The sanction means the 31-year-old is suspended from any involvement in the playing, organisation or administration of any cricket under the jurisdiction of the ECB.

Kaneria was found guilty of encouraging or attempting to encourage Essex team mate Mervyn Westfieldto underperform in a match in 2009, the board said.

Westfield was asked to concede a set number of runs during his opening over in a county match againstDurham in exchange for a payment of 6,000 pounds ($9,300).

Kaneria was named in a London court in February as a go-between in a spot-fixing scandal that resulted in Westfield being jailed for four months.

The Pakistan bowler, who took 261 wickets in 61 tests, denied the charges. He was described in the ECB ruling as having “shown no remorse and sought to cast blame on other plainly innocent persons”.

“plainly betrayed the trust reposed in him in his dealings with fellow team mates and we regard his persistent efforts to recruit spot fixers as being a seriously aggravating factor in his case,” said the board.

Since the scandal came to light following his arrest in 2010, Kaneria has not played for Pakistan.

Westfield, who has been released from prison, pleaded guilty to the ECB charge of accepting money to underperform and was banned for five years backdated to Feb. 17.

However, he can participate in club cricket for the final two years of the suspension.

The ECB praised Westfield for his “courage” to testify although his record will forever be tainted as the first English county cricketer to be convicted in court for spot-fixing.

The 24-year-old, who took 11 wickets in seven first-class matches, provided core evidence that was central to finding Kaneria guilty.

It has been a turbulent time for the international cricket community with former Pakistan captain Salman Butt released from prison in Britain on Thursday after serving seven months of a two-and-a-half year term for involvement in a spot-fixing scam. ($1 = 0.6427 British pounds)

A good Sign (Whatmore’s special emphasis on fitness of Pakistani cricketers)

Pakistan coach Dav Whatmore’s special emphasis is on the fitness of cricketers, as selectors are all set to name separate teams for Tests, ODIs and T20.

Seven Pakistan cricketers, including the out-of-favour former captain Mohammad Yousuf and wicketkeeper Kamran Akmal, took part in the second phase of the fitness tests at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore.

Aizaz Cheema, Mohammad Hafeez, Umar Akmal, Mohammad Irfan and Sohail Tanvir were the other players who took part in the drills yesterday.

The coaching panel, which also includes fielding coach Julien Fountain, launched the tests in order to bring about improvement in the players’ fitness levels, The Express Tribune reports.

According to officials close to the selection committee, the tests will also help the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) get a clear idea about the players as the selectors looked to form separate teams for all three formats.

However, it remains to be seen whether this plan will be implemented in time for the tour of Sri Lanka, the squad for which will be named in the first week of May.

“The main purpose of the tests is to check and expand the bench strength. Whatmore will have clear idea about the players by conducting their fitness tests. But forming separate teams for Sri Lanka tour is not confirmed and depends on the selectors,” said PCB director Intikhab Alam.

With the central contracts for the year yet to be handed out, Alam said that the delay is due to the fitness tests as the PCB wants to confirm things before giving out the new list.

Ajmal willing to play upto WC, 2015

Saeed Ajaml, Pakistani off-spinner is willing to play cricket up to World Cup 2015,the top-ranked spinner in the ICC rankings in both Tests and ODIs,  also said that “I hope by the time I am ready to walk out, another Ajmal would be ready to take my place,” he was interviewed by espncricinfo “I will ensure this and it’s my responsibility to do so”.

He said that he did not worry about having lost so much time before he got the chance to play international cricket.

“Age definitely plays a key role but I have no regret for being late into international cricket,” Ajmal said. “Who knows if I had played earlier I might not have been the same Ajmal. What I am today is more important for me.

“I am currently 34 and I know my age won’t let me play perhaps more than three years. But it’s also a matter of fitness that can actually extend a player’s life. I am optimistic that I can play at least till the 2015 World Cup before calling my time from the game.”

Ajmal hoped that he had inspired enough young players to take up spin bowling. He is also planning to launch a cricket academy next year in his city Faisalabad. Ajmal recently wrecked England with his doosras and off-breaks and finished with 24 wickets in the three-Test series in the UAE.

“A lot of bowlers around the world are so much keen about the doosra and I love to help. Being a quality spin bowler is tough and it takes time to obtain results. You need to be very patient.

As a spinner Bowler he lifts many of his talent towards the young guys of Pakistan cricket, After saqlain Pakistan got a variety off-spinner in shape of Saeed Ajaml but it was very much late as he made debut in 30s.

But in shorter career he made his mark with sound quality of spin Bowling.

We wish him best of luck for the rest of his career.

A new hope for Pakistani fans
