Imad Wasim will miss T20 Series

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan all-rounder Imad Wasim has been ruled out of the three-match T20 series against England due to a broken little finger on his left hand.

Wasim was injured in a domestic cricket match last month, and needs another two weeks to recover, Pakistan Cricket Board doctor Sohail Saleem said.

The T20s start in the United Arab Emirates next Thursday. Another all-rounder, Bilal Asif, will replace Wasim in the squad.

Haier T20 Cup 2015

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) finally unveiled the trophy of their Domestic T20 event after a week long dispute with Karachi City Cricket Association (KCCA) on new structure of Domestic Tournaments (It is changed third time in last four years). They (PCB) launched the Cool & Cool presents Haier T-20 Cup 2015-16 with great fanfare at the Pindi Cricket Stadium, Rawalpindi.

The qualifying round of the event commences on Sept. 1 and runs up to Sept. 5, 2015. Eight Teams will participate in qualifying round. The Winner of both semi-finals of qualifying round shall make it to the main round.

Twelve teams will contest for Cool & Cool Presents Haier Mobile T20 CUP 2015-2016 in the main tournament. The main tournament will commence on Sept. 8 and its semifinals will be played on Sept 14 and the final will take place on Sept. 15.

Interestingly this year PCB changed names of their all regional teams, which was used to be ended with an animal name just like Lahore Lions, Karachi Dolphins, Sialkot Stallions, Faisalabad Wolves and so on. But not for this year, this year these teams are named as Karachi Whites, Karachi Blues, Lahore Whites, Lahore Blues and other regional teams will go with their region name. One thing which attracts me is prefixes of team names, this year they are also called with their sponsors’ name follow this

Team Sponsors:

  1. J.Junaid Jamshed Karachi Blues
  2. Brighto Paints Lahore Blues
  3. Mughal Steel Larkana
  4. J. Junaid Jamshed Quetta
  5. Golden Pearl Cosmetics AJK
  6. Golden Pearl Cosmetics DMJ
  7. Haier Mobile FATA
  8. Brighto Paints Bahawalpur

I hope you all will face some difficulty to recognize teams and players, more interestingly what will be their kits as name suggests us Lahore Whites & Karachi Whites. What they both teams will wear a kit an interesting question, which will be sorted soon. PTV Sports a national sports channel will telecast event live and exclusively.

By this announcement a long wait is over now, in a detailed Press Conference by Mr. Najam Sethi (Chairman Governing Council-PSL) at HQ of Pakistan Cricket Board, Lahore. He announced Doha, Qatar is the venue for first Pakistan Super League. It will be held in between 4th Feb, to 24th Feb next year. Teams from Karachi, Lahore, Quetta, Peshawar and Islamabad will take part in this event.

PSL team has consent from over 40 international players. In addition, top foreign coaches are also being roped in for the first edition of the PSL. Which is very good news for our Cricket. The tournament will carry collective prize money of up to $ 1 million.

In line with the tournament commercial plan, rights for broadcast, sponsorship, and franchise ownership will be sold over the next three months. With the event venue locked, the formal PSL launch will take place in Lahore in the third week of September.

The inaugural 2013 season was supposed begin on 26 March 2013 but has since been postponed due to tight bidding schedules and cricket boards not handing out No Objection Certificate to players. The Pakistan Super League logo was officially unveiled to the public in an event organized by the PCB in Lahore. Top Pakistan cricketers including the Ex-PCB Chairman Zaka Ashraf and former ICC chief executive Haroon Lorgat were among those who attended the event. But event remained a mystery for cricket supporters in Pakistan. Finally it is going to be organized by a new team of Pakistan Cricket Board.

Bangladesh Premier League franchises face tax issues

  • The National Board of Revenue in Bangladesh has frozen the bank accounts of Shihab Trading Company, the firm that bought the ticket-selling rights for the inaugural edition of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) and owns one of the league’s franchises, the Dhaka Gladiators.
  • “We have asked our officials to attach, or freeze, all bank accounts of Shihab Trading Company after they failed to pay us any of the tax levied on the BPL’s ticket sales,” Kanon Kumar Roy, director general of Directorate of Inspection (Taxes), said. “We asked them to pay 5% of all ticket sales, which amounted to Tk 2.25 crore [$275,000 approx]. They insisted it was Tk 2.16 crore [$265,000 approx], but they haven’t paid any money as tax.”
  • In response, Shihab Trading Company chairman Salim Chowdhury told Ekattor TV: “I think there has been a miscommunication. The tickets that we gave to the BCB [to distribute] are worth Tk 20-22 crore, so those tickets can’t be taxed.”
  • Also, Roy said, till now, only one out of the six BPL franchises have met tax requirements. “One franchise [unnamed] has been forthcoming, but the rest haven’t followed their lead.”
