Evening. I’m finally thawing out after one of the coldest days scoring I’ve experienced in a long time. My club, Chingford CC, were taking on Walthamstow CC, making a welcome return to the League, in a League Cup 2nd Round match at Walthamstow’s ground in a local derby.

The rain mercifully held off, but a bitter and strong easterly breeze made it very unpleasant for all the participants today. I could barely feel my hands at one point!

Chingford won the toss and batted, and on a good pitch, skipper Alfie Taylor with 115 not out, Rahul Patel (having a superb first season so far) 91 and Jack Potticary 57 in next to no time. 318 for 5 was the final tally in the allotment of 45 overs.
