Former Pakistan all rounder Azhar Mahmood, who is the only Pakistan player playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL), has described Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar as “the best player in the world”.
Mahmood, who now has British citizenship, said he regards Sachin Tendulkar highly, and added that getting a batsman of his calibre was always an achievement and brought a special feeling.
“There is no doubt that he is the best player in the world,” said Mahmood, who is part of IPL franchise Kings XI Punjab.
“It’s been a wonderful experience to play in the IPL, where top players from around the world share the same dressing room. I am quite happy to be part of Kings XI Punjab and the IPL,” the Daily Times quoted Mahmood, as saying.
He also said the IPL has helped in scouting young talent and praised the team’s youngsters, like Mandeep Singh and Parvinder Awana for putting up a good show.
“We (Punjab) don’t have big names, but youngsters are putting in a lot of energy. We like each other’s company and each other’s success,” he said.
